What is the price of a cajon in Bangladesh?

A handcrafted MusicOn cajon costs between ৳5,000 and ৳8,000. What moves the price is the body and the snare system: the Classic (৳5,000) and Creative (৳6,000) are 18mm plywood with a fixed snare, the Concert (৳7,500) is solid gamari hardwood and the Craft (৳8,000) solid pinewood, both with a snare you can tune while playing. Every price includes a 12-month warranty. Delivery is free inside Rajshahi city and ৳350–450 anywhere else in Bangladesh.

How do I look after my cajon?

Keep it out of direct sun and away from standing damp. Wipe the faceplate with a dry cloth. Do not leave it in a closed car in summer. If the snare buzzes against the tapa, a quarter-turn of the adjustment screw usually settles it.

What is the difference between the four series?

The body, and whether the snare adjusts. Every one of them is a snare cajon carrying the same pair of premium-grade steel snare wires, 20 strands each — we do not fit a cheaper snare to a cheaper box. Classic (৳5,000) is 18mm Super Gorjon ply with the snare fixed; Creative (৳6,000) is 18mm Burma teak ply, also fixed; Concert (৳7,500) is solid gamari with an externally adjustable snare; Craft (৳8,000) is solid pinewood, also adjustable. Solid bodies give you a deeper bass and longer sustain; the adjustable knob lets you move from a dry snap to a sizzle mid-song.

How long does delivery take?

Inside Rajshahi city we hand-deliver in 1–2 days, free. Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet take 2–4 days. Anywhere else in Bangladesh is 3–6 days. Build time is on top of that, and is listed on each product page.

Question 5

How do I pay for my cajon?

Accepted Answer

Three ways: bKash, direct bank transfer, or cash on delivery with a ৳500 advance. For bKash and bank transfer you send the amount and enter the transaction ID at checkout — we verify it, usually within a few hours, and then start your build.

Question 6

What does the warranty cover?

Accepted Answer

Twelve months on every cajon we make, covering anything that is a fault in the build: joints coming unglued, ply separating, a panel splitting on its own, a snare wire or its mount working loose, tuning hardware seizing, bracing coming adrift, feet parting, or lacquer failing without being knocked. Those repairs are free. Shipping in both directions is yours to cover. Register your certificate number on the site to activate it.

Which one should I buy if I am just starting?

The Creative Series. It is a real instrument, not a toy version, and the money you save is better spent on lessons. Players move up to the Craft Series when they start recording or playing rooms where the low end has to carry.

Do you deliver outside Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. Every cajon we have made has stayed in the country. If you are abroad and want one, message us on WhatsApp and we will work something out case by case.

Question 9

Why does cash on delivery need a ৳500 advance?

Accepted Answer

Each cajon is built and packed for one specific order, and courier return costs on a box this size are significant. The ৳500 advance covers that risk. It is deducted from your total — you pay the rest to the courier when the box reaches you.

What if it arrives damaged?

Accepted Answer

Photograph it before you do anything else, including unpacking further, and send us the pictures the same day. Courier damage is not something we argue with customers about — we sort it out and take it up with the courier ourselves. A bulky wooden box travelling across the country occasionally has a bad journey; that is our problem to fix, not yours to absorb.

Does it come with a bag?

No, and that is deliberate — plenty of players already own one, and building the cost of a bag into every cajon means charging those people twice. The padded bag is listed on the shop page, and there is a tick-box on every cajon page to add one to your order at the same time. It fits every series we make.

Question 12

What if I break it myself?

Accepted Answer

We still fix it, for as long as the instrument exists. A cracked tapa, a drop, water damage or a knock is not covered by the warranty, so there is a charge — but it is materials plus the hours on the bench, at what they cost us. We do not price repairs to make money on them. Message us a photo and we will quote before anything is sent.

Can I try one before buying?

Yes, if you can reach Rajshahi. Our workshop is open to visitors — call ahead and we will have the whole range set up for you to play. We would rather you sat on all four than guessed from a photo.

Is the snare cheaper on the cheaper cajons?

Accepted Answer

No. Every cajon we make is a snare cajon and every one carries the same pair of premium-grade steel snare wires, 20 strands each — the least expensive box has the identical snare to the dearest. Not brass, not iron: steel holds its tension and its brightness far longer. What you pay more for is the body and whether the snare adjusts, never the part that makes it a snare cajon.

Do you take bulk orders for a school, church or band?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we would rather talk it through than have you fill a cart. Message us with how many you need and by when. Each cajon is still built one at a time, so a large order is a schedule rather than a switch we flip — tell us the date you actually need them and we will tell you honestly whether we can make it.

Should I get a fixed or an adjustable snare?

Accepted Answer

Fixed if you want one good sound and nothing to think about — the Classic and the Creative are set at the bench and stay there, which also means nothing to drift out of tune in the back of a rickshaw. Adjustable if you play across styles in one sitting: the Concert and the Craft have an external knob that tightens or slackens both wires while you play, taking you from a dry, woody snap to a drum-kit sizzle without stopping. Neither is the better instrument. One has a decision on it and one does not.

Buying direct from the maker also means your warranty is registered with the people who will actually repair the instrument.

Can I paint or decorate my cajon?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with one rule. The front plate is 3mm thick and it is the part that actually makes the sound — it works the way a speaker cone works, and anything you lay on it adds weight and stiffness. Keep it thin, keep it near the edges, and leave the centre and the top strike zone bare. The plate goes quiet in proportion to how much of it you cover, so a full-face design will cost you bass and sustain. Plenty of players decorate theirs and we like seeing it.

Can you put my band’s name on it, or spray it a different colour?

A name or a small mark on the body, away from the front plate, we can usually talk about. Spray paint we will not do at all: a sprayed finish lays mass across the whole soundboard and the instrument goes duller and shorter for it, and it fills the grain so the surface turns slick under the hand. We also will not put another maker’s logo on our work, however often we are asked. We stain, we lacquer thin, and we stop.

Did MusicOn stop making cajons?

Accepted Answer

For a while, yes. We paused in 2020 — the pandemic took the demand, the market filled up with cheap counterfeits, and we were university students with degrees to finish. We started building again after a shop in Dhaka told one of us that if he wanted a cajon that sounded good he would have to go to Rajshahi, but they do not make them anymore. Same workshop, same bench, considerably more research than the first time.
